Kapas Island

Kapas Island (Cotton Island) got its name for a simple reason - the beach sand here is soft and white.

It is an island off Marang in Terengganu, it can be accessible about 30 minutes by slow boat or 10 minutes by fast boat from Marang jetty, south of Kuala Terengganu. Surrounded by crystal clear blue waters, swaying coconut trees and caves with swallows nests, Pulau Kapas is a getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Although the island is considerably small and relatively unheard of in the tourist circuit, it is well worth a visit if you need time to get away from the hectic life at home. Ideal for couples, the island is also great for anyone looking to meet people in a close-knit environment.

It is a must-visit island for discerning divers and snorkelers as it has the incredible variety of hard and soft corals, seashells, fish and turtles. The laidback atmosphere here gives a perfect excuse to do nothing. Still, if you are feeling restless, there are plenty of activities to keep you occupied.

Take your pick: diving, swimming, snorkeling, windsurfing, kayaking, boating and even fishing.
