Pulau Beras Basah literally means Island of Wet Rice (in Malay) is located at the western tip of Langkawi. It features lush jungles and mountains. Expect to see spectacular sights like its breath-takingly beautiful beach with its white powdery sand and blue-green waters.
Pulau Beras Basah is probably the best island hopping destination, easily accessible from most drop-off points on the main island. The Awana Porto Malai Resort periodically ferries its guests to the white sandy beaches of this pristine island for barbeque cookouts. A good way to see this island and also Pulau Singa Besar and Pulau Dayang Bunting is go for a 4-hour "island hopping" boat tour.
The waters around Pulau Beras Basah offers more than just white sandy beaches. Catch a glimpse of school of playful dolphins (estimated to be about 50 at the last count) and the hundreds of eagles that circle over head at feeding times.
