VMY 2014 Fishing Challenge is a joint collaboration between Tourism Malaysia and Seremban Municipal Council in conjunction with the Council's 117th Anniversary and Visit Malaysia Year 2014. The objective of this event is to help promote the park as one of Negeri Sembilan's tourism products in order to achieve the target of 5 million tourist arrivals.

The park is one of the most popular recreation and leisure locations in Seremban which draws the attention of many visitors, especially during weekends and public holidays and is reputed to be one of the oldest natural lake garden in Malaysia . 

Prizes worth more than RM50,000 awaits the participants. Champion of the VMY2014 Fishing Challenge will take home RM20,000 while the second and third placings will be awarded with RM10,000 and RM5,000 respectively. Consolation prize winners from 4th to 10th place will receive RM500, 11th place to 20th place will receive RM400, and the 21st to the 30th place will receive prizes amounting to RM300. 

In addition to the top prizes, there will be a Bonanza Draw for participants which consists of a Modenas Kriss 3 motorcycle sponsored by Nilai 3 Streetmall. On top of that, there will be 30 lucky draw prizes such as hampers and accommodation packages. Other side events includes coloring contest for children aged 4-6 years and Catfish Fishing Canvas that will attract kids to try their hands on fishing. A total of 1000 participants and 5000 visitors are expected at this event.
